About the Programme
Gauryapada Restoration is YOGI's long-term commitment to a single tribal village and its shared natural resources. In Gauryapada, a remote village in the Umarti Forest Range of Chopda Block, life and farming turn on seasonal water, and YOGI has walked alongside the community here for five years.
This is some of YOGI's most rooted work. It is measured not in thousands of students but in one village, one stream, and the wells a whole community depends on, and it is perhaps the truest expression of what we mean by the commons: shared resources cared for by the people who depend on them, with YOGI alongside rather than above.

Why It Matters
Single-use plastic has become woven into the everyday life of schools, in lunchboxes, water bottles, book covers, and packaged snacks, and much of it ends up in drains, soil, and ultimately rivers and oceans. Awareness campaigns alone rarely change this, because the habits are formed early and reinforced at home.
Climate Warriors works where habits are actually formed: with children, in their schools. By treating schools not as audiences but as institutions capable of setting their own policy, and children not as recipients but as change-makers, the programme turns a daily routine into a daily act of climate responsibility, one that children carry home to their families.

The three-point school commitment — schools adopt a plastic-free policy: steel tiffins, steel bottles, and newspaper book covers.
Awareness sessions — interactive sessions with students and parents on plastic, waste, and climate, building a sense of ownership.
Food literacy (Anna Saksharta Yatra) — workshops responding to parents' concerns about children's demand for packaged food, connecting plastic, food, health, and environment.
Institutional engagement — working with school leaders, the district administration, and the municipal corporation to anchor the movement in the city's systems.

Where & Who
Climate Warriors began in Jalgaon city and has since grown across the region. Today it engages more than 80 schools and has reached over 50,000 students. In Chopda, the programme has already begun, with 30+ schools in the process of joining. In Hinganghat, District Wardha, YOGI serves as a knowledge partner, supporting a local organisation and the local administration to run the same programme in their area. The programme works with schoolchildren as its primary change-agents, alongside teachers, parents, and school leadership.

At one school, children from economically disadvantaged families could not afford to replace their plastic tiffins with steel ones. A teacher, Neeta Patil, stepped in and provided steel tiffins herself, so that no child would be left out, a small act that captured the movement's spirit: change becomes real when the people closest to children remove the barriers in their way.

Climate Warriors is supported by a network of institutional partners, including the Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation and the office of the District Collector, Jalgaon. The Anna Saksharta Yatra food-literacy workshops were led by Close My Loop, and a "CA for Climate" engagement was carried out with the Jalgaon Branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI)
